We're Jigsaw Mad at Maisie's

Trade in your used jigsaws

Wasgij? (that's 'jigsaw' back to front) are
tricky puzzles where the image
you have to make is what the
characters see, not the image on
the box.

Bring in your good quality used jigsaw puzzles and we'll give you credit on another used or new jigsaw puzzle. You could say we're a Jigsaw Exchange. We like top quality brands eg. Ravensburger, Heye, Holdson's, Castorland, Blue Opal, Jumbo and Sunsout. The most popular size is 1000 piece, but we also buy smaller sizes in designs suitable for both kids and adults.
100% Guarantee! If you find any jigsaw from us has pieces missing, bring it back and we'll swap it for another jigsaw, new for new, 2nd hand for 2nd hand.

Writers on Writers

As a reader, you naturally wonder about the lives of authors. Were they imaginative children? Have they ever been to the places they write about? Are they as kind or brave as the people in their books? Are they witty? Luckily, some of them have written tell-all memoirs about themselves, or else another author has written a warts-and-all expose about them. (I wonder which is the most truthful?)
In "Mrs Woolf and the Servants" (our price $14.90) Alison Light explores the household of noted feminist Virginia Woolf and probes her relationship with her domestic staff in a biography cum social history that The Times called "horrifyingly entertaining".

Some authors' lives you might enjoy:

"Goodbye to All That" by Robert Graves (author of "I, Claudius") A harrowing account of his wartime experience and one of the most candid self-portraits by an artist ever written.($12.90)

"Out of The Sky She Came" by Valerie Lawson. The extraordinary life of P.L. Travers, creator of Mary Poppins (Out of print: $65.00)

"Hemingway, The Paris Years" by Michael Reynolds. Hemingway was not entirely truthful in his own memmoirs, and Reynolds teases apart the facts and the lies. ($16.00)

"A Man's Got To Have a Hobby" by William McInnes. In which is revealed the early home life of the loved Aussie actor and writer. ($12.90)

"Jane Austen, A Life" by Claire Tomalin. Surely the most written about English novelist of all time. Plenty of notes and illustrations. ($14.90)

"The Life of Graham Greene" Vols I & 2 by Norman Sherry. Did you know the author of The Quiet American and Brighton Rock was himself a spy? (Hard cover books with dustjackets $30.00)

"The Poet's Wife" by Mandy Sayer. She was a busker. He was a poet and Vietnam veteran. She was white from Australia. He was black and from the Deep South. What happened when they married will thrill, move, perplex and enrage you. ($16.00)

"The Puzzles of Childhood" by Manning Clark. His early life, described by The Age as "An awful childhood" ($11.90)

"Salinger" by David Shields and Shane Salerno. On the enigmatic author of "The Catcher in the Rye". ($14.00)
